The sighting: Actress Amanda Seyfried attended the 2023 Met Gala in a custom Oscar de la Renta mini dress and Cartier jewels.
The jewels: Seyfried’s jewels for the night are all Cartier. She’s wearing a Cartier Agrafe ring on her right hand, a yellow gold piece with diamonds. But the scene-stealer here is that necklace.
The spectacular necklace is formed of many chains of gold that sparkle across the actress’s chest, held at each shoulder by rows of Cartier Agrafe elements in gold with diamonds.
There may be earrings in there too, but it’s impossible to tell under that fabulously floofy hair.
The trends: Lots of trends here! Necklaces with dramatic draping, disco influence, and fringes are the most prominent.
What do we think? This isn’t my favorite dress from the night…but I do think that the jewelry choice was absolutely genius. Anyone can wear a barely-there minidress with dramatic fringes, but to accessorize that dress with a huge, wonderfully dramatic necklace that goes with the dress so well that it’s hard to tell where one ends and the other begins is truly inspired glamour.
Most celebrities (or their stylists) wouldn’t have been brave enough to pair a big necklace with a dress like this, but it is so much cooler here than an understated piece would have.
Judgement: 14/10 for an extremely cool jewel choice.
