Luxury Shines Brightly At JA Fine Jewelry Preview

Signs placed throughout the Jewelers of America Fine Jewelry Preview read “Live Life in Luxury” and “The Future Is Bright.” These definitely could be viewed as the themes running through this yearly press preview where emerging stars and established brands are brought together so that editors and bloggers can discover trends, talent and new items. This year, the different classifications radiated with a soulful and creative elegance and dazzled with sparkle and shine. All gave a nod to old-world techniques merged with new technological advances, creating an unstudied chic in jewelry and a wide range of styles in engagement and bridal rings.

Sponsored by the Cultured Pearl Association of America, Luxury Brand Group, Platinum Guild International and Silver Promotion Service, the event highlighted key trends in all of the classifications. These included linear earrings, wide cuffs, statement necklaces ranging from lariats to bibs to bold chokers, color in both tonal hues and contrasting combinations, and pieces that borrowed inspiration from the past. There was also a vast selection of engagement rings that would make any woman’s heart flutter.

Here are some of our favorite pieces representing these trends:

Line Up

Linear earrings made a showing in all variations of metal with diamonds and/or gemstones. We particularly love those that are long and lean but that have swing and movement.

Cuff Love

From sculptural to geometric, cuffs stand out this season in matte silver and gold, and singular pieces with a whole lot of sparkle.

Neck in Neck

Make your own statement based on the type of necklace that suits you best. You can choose from a diversity of styles. Check out these bibs, lariats and chokers.

Color Me Beautiful

Whether we’re talking about tonal hues or contrasting combinations of vivid brights and pastels, this season is once again about color — and designers are choosing from a creative palette.

Past Present

Designers revive past inspirations with a modern vibe that works for today’s independent woman.

With This Ring

Today’s bride desires options to reflect her personality, and designers come through with myriad options. Here are just a few we that saw at the Jewelers of America Fine Jewelry Preview.

Time for More “Me Time”? Time to Call Wilkerson

Rick White, owner of White’s & Co. Jewelry in Rogers, Ark., knew it was time to retire. Since the age of 18, jewelry had been his life. Now it was time to get that “me time” every retailer dreams about. So, he chose Wilkerson to manage his going-out-of-business sale. White says he’d done plenty of sales on his own, but this was different. “Wilkerson has been a very, very good experience. I’ve had the best salespeople in the history of jewelry,” he says. “I recommend Wilkerson because they are really the icon of the jewelry business and going-out-of-business sales. They’ve been doing it for decades. I just think they’re the best.”
