The sighting: Lizzo wore a spectacular outfit to accept her well-deserved People’s Choice Award. Let’s take a look at the jewelry!

The jewels: Lizzo’s earrings, bracelets, and necklace are all custom Alexis Bittar. Since they’re custom, we don’t know the exact specs, but Alexis Bittar is known for their demi-fine creations, so I think it’s safe to assume these lovelies are 14K gold plated brass, like the bulk of this brand’s designs. The custom necklace, earrings, and bracelets all feature a chunky, oversized chain motif embellished with scattered sparkling stones.

In addition to the custom pieces, Lizzo is also wearing several hair ornaments from Alexis Bittar’s Twisted Gold collection. The clips feature sinuous abstract lines in 14K yellow gold plated brass and are listed on the brand’s website for $225-$295.

Lizzo is also wearing several rings by Pamela Love Jewelry: the Arden Ring, the Astrid Ring, and Comet Gravitation Ring. These rings are two demi-fine, one fine. The Arden ring is 14K yellow gold-plated silver with lapis, listed online for $250. The Astrid ring appears to be sold out on Pamela Love’s website, but it is listed elsewhere online as gold plated with lapis and valued at $250. The Comet Gravitation ring is the only fine piece in this lineup. It’s made of recycled 18K yellow gold with lapis, diamonds, and a moonstone; listed online for $1,700.

The trends: Demi-fine for big events has been a trend for celebs recently, and it leads to a lot of fun high-volume looks like this one.

I’m most excited about the hair ornaments here. I keep seeing Gen Z TikTokers posting about discovering butterfly clips and other artefacts straight from my tweenhood, so maybe demi-fine jewelry brands producing beautiful hair clips like these could be the grown-up version of that trend.

What do we think? This is 100% that look, IMHO. It’s eclectic and exuberant and the gorgeous chaos of different designers and materials worn together feels just right for this charismatic superstar’s big moment.

Lizzo is one celeb who too frequently wears jewelry that doesn’t fit her personality – her jewels are often understated or a little basic – so it is a treat to see her in a jewelry ensemble that feels worthy of her.

I also have to tell you that while standing on stage holding her newly-won People’s Choice Award, Lizzo chose to use the moment of her acclaim to bring up 17 female activists and recognize them, instead of herself.

Judgement: 1000/10 because I love Lizzo and it’s a delight to see her in jewelry that’s as fun as she is.

Time for More “Me Time”? Time to Call Wilkerson

Rick White, owner of White’s & Co. Jewelry in Rogers, Ark., knew it was time to retire. Since the age of 18, jewelry had been his life. Now it was time to get that “me time” every retailer dreams about. So, he chose Wilkerson to manage his going-out-of-business sale. White says he’d done plenty of sales on his own, but this was different. “Wilkerson has been a very, very good experience. I’ve had the best salespeople in the history of jewelry,” he says. “I recommend Wilkerson because they are really the icon of the jewelry business and going-out-of-business sales. They’ve been doing it for decades. I just think they’re the best.”
