Zvi Yehuda, an inventor who developed several innovations for the jewelry industry, has died.

He was 86. He passed away early on May 6, according to his son Dror Yehuda, president of New York-based Yehuda Diamond Co.

Yehuda, a native of Israel, created “the first set of digital scales for diamonds” and “the first diamond laser-cutting machine,” Rapaport News explained in a 2019 article.

Among his other innovations were a clarity enhancement process, a color meter for rough diamonds and a synthetic-diamond detection device.
